What We Don't List And Why
I had a look through the sites logs today to find out what people are searching for.
We can see what is searched for but not who is searching. the logs are temporary and we respect your privacy.
I check the search logs occasionally to make sure we have all the products and info that people are looking for. Some regular users might notice that items are often added a day or two after a fruitless search was performed.
I thought I would let users know what we won't, in the foreseeable future, be adding to the product categories.
We have had a few common searches for types of items that are not yet part of the site, and likely they won't be any time soon. Below is a list and the reasons why.
The the two reasons most of the below items won't be listed are .
- They are not consumer electronics, gadgets or computer related devices. - This is what the site focuses on.
- Consumer apathy - If you submit it , it will be added but at the moment no-one has asked for that product to be added. The site relies on user submissions and comments in order to remain accurate and provide you the information you feel is relevant.
Consider helping out by leaving comments, making submissions, verifying issues in the comments or supplying support info either by email or in a comment - to get started read the FAQ, its only a short page and will take two minutes
Items not currently listed on NotAsCoolAsItSeems
- PC's, Macs ,Laptops and netbooks - there are too many variables / components that make up one of these devices. A point form list of problems would be hard to maintain objectively for each listed item. I had misgivings about adding mobile smart phones for the same reasons.
- White goods - washing machines, dish washers, refridgerators, freezers.
- Kitchen appliances - ovens, stoves, blenders, food processors
- Blue ray players, PVR systems - we get a lot of searches for these devices but have not yet recieved a single issue submission or request to add a particular product in this category. We would actually add this if people seemed interested.
- Cars
- Watches
- Phone cases
- Weapons of Mass Destruction - we are still waiting for the permit.
