Bypass The Charge For Tethering

Until the i-Phone publicity I was unaware of the extra charge for tethering that some providers are gouging there customers. I had previously enabled my smart phone to tether after coming across my service providers settings in a PDF file on the net .

Tethering is the use of your device as a USB or Blue-tooth connected modem, if your provider is charging you for this and you have already payed for a data plan then they are double dipping. ( it's a phone function not an extra service that requires action by the service provider)

I don't use an i-phone so I haven't had the chance to test this, could someone please leave their thoughts in the comments but apparently the following links will enable tethering for many i-Phone 3G users around the world by supplying the settings file.

If you want to see if you can prevent your provider from double dipping and charging you twice for the same service check out "Tether me" here or here.. The "Tether me!" authors have made the file available not to bypass fees but to activate the feature for users on carriers that are yet to confirm whether it will permit its use on their network. Read their disclaimer and use it at your own risk.

Copied here :

Disclaimer: While this enables tethering, I don't know for sure if your carrier will be able to detect that you are using it. I assume not, however I may be wrong. Keep an eye on your bill
