i didn't come across the same
i didn't come across the same problems as the ones already noted (i've had this for 3 years), but the little things that annoyed me:
- when you use the mic to record, every now and then there's like a whirling sound (think of the sound a dentist's drill makes)
- recorded files have to be renamed and relabeled on the computer (i.e. you can't use the player to label it)
- if you record from the radio, the player is slow to start the recording (you might get like, 3-5 seconds chopped off from the moment you hit record)
- you can't freely move around files on the player (you need to copy it to your computer, delete it from the player, then relocate it to wherever you want on the player)
- vista allows you to click and drag the files around, but the song titles get renamed (i.e. artist - song title)
- the buttons get uneven with use (the center button leans more to the right because i used it to skip through songs so much)
- face gets scratched easily; even my case couldn't help it
- comes with a calendar and phonebook program thing that i found myself not using

Avoid this.
It is unstable to the point that I returned it in less than a week.
I purchased it in a physical shop but I don't doubt the Amazon customer quote above, there are better alternatives.
