Apple iPod touch 32 GB
Consumers have noted the following concerns, they may be of interest to you if you are researching a product before purchase.
This list may not be complete. The updating process is manual, it requires your feedback to notify us of other issues, manufacturer supplied fixes, product recalls or other information which might affect this entry. If you would like to submit an issue or other information you can do so here. or leave a comment below. All feedback is welcome.
This entry also covers the smaller capacity versions of the device.
- Condensation from rapid temperature changes may trip the water marker inside the Ipod which voids the warranty.
- Unlike earlier iPods, the touch actually REQUIRES registration-it's locked until registered.
- WiFi works , but it can be slow to connect.
- Some firmware versions / hardware revisions have issues working with WPA2 secured wireless networks. The issue has been seen to effect version 2.1, 2.2 and 3 (please see below)
- Battery is not user replaceable
Beacon Frames are frames that have control information and are transmitted in each of the 11 channels and help a wireless station to identify nearby wireless access points (AP) in passive scanning mode. The Beacon interval for many routers defaults to 100ms, the iphone/ipod will connect in some cases if you change the setting of your router to 75ms.
Blue-tooth has been seen to adversely effect Wi-Fi on this device . Disabling Blue-tooth while using Wi-Fi may improve performance.
If the above fixes do not resolve the issue update your firmware here Support Pages: Apple and update your router firmware.
Some individuals that have updated there router and Apple device have reported success by resetting all network settings to default (General-Reset-Reset Network Settings), then restarting the phone/ipod.

Thank you for your input
The items above are usually compiled from a large number of user submissions and we try to make them as accurate as possible and without bias. If you could reply and state what version of OS or updates you have it would help a lot.
We can only go by what has been continually submitted to the sites forms and the content of useful comments like your own. The vote system helps determine if the comments are accurate
I will look at other reviews and the Apple forum myself to see if this entry requires updating.
Thank you
EDIT: Your post allowed me to remove one of the issues for the device, thank you, we value all input.
The WPA2 issues are valid , its usually found on ipods which haven't had their firmware updated or in some cases it is caused by incompatability with networking hardware. An explanation has been added to reflect this.

Fix worked for me
Changing the beacon inteval on my router worked for me. Firmware 2.2 I think

FIrst, I have never had a problem connecting to WPA networks...and the battery life is just fine in real world usage. I use mine to drive back and forth from Austin to Nederland (about a 4 hour drive) with my car stereo that does not charge it. I can drive there and back and still have over the charge in the iPod. If you are getting around three hours of battery, then you have a defective unit and should go and get another one.
