Nexus One
Consumers have noted the following concerns, they may be of interest to you if you are researching a product before purchase.
This list may not be complete. The updating process is manual, it requires your feedback to notify us of other issues, manufacturer supplied fixes, product recalls or other information which might affect this entry. If you would like to submit an issue or other information you can do so here. or leave a comment below. All feedback is welcome.
- Most common reported problems are a "spotty" , "dropped" or "poor" 3G connection (may be related to the carrier service not the device) Google is no longer working on "further engineering improvements."
- WiFi connectivity problems, some people that have a Nexus One state that it will not stay connected to their router/network when the phone goes into sleep mode (no matter what the sleep policy is set at). Others state that they lose connection to their router/network and it is either slow to reconnect or won't reconnect at all without either powering the phone off and then back on, or turning off the wi-fi radio and then turning it back on, or putting the phone into airplane mode and then back out.
- Issues with the touch screen have been reported such as the input being registered in unrelated screen areas. This results in the on-screen keyboard input appearing to be "going crazy" and icons seem not clickable.
A temporary fix for the touch screen issues and responses from a Google employee in their help forum
Those of you having issues with the touch screen should do a soft reset of your phone (press power, volume down and the trackball simultaneously). Please report the results here and let others know if this corrects the screen's behavior. If it does correct the problem, does it only do so temporarily? Thanks for your help with this!

Sorry to keep you waiting, but we're still definitely looking this issue. We want everyone to know that if this issue can be solved by a software fix it will be addressed with an over-the-air systems update. If we find this is the result of a hardware issue, it'll be covered by the Nexus One Warranty found here:

Thanks for your patience.
About the 3G issues, responses from a Google employee in their help forum
The OTA update was issued and many users still complain. Read the angry support thread linked below in the info box.
Google is no longer working on "further engineering improvements."
Hi Folks,
There’s still a lot of interest here, so I just wanted to let people know, like we mentioned last week, the Nexus One over-the-air (OTA) software update provides a specific fix that will improve 3G connectivity for many Nexus One users.
However, there are a variety of factors which feed into the quality of 3G connectivity on mobile phones, a number of which are dependent on the environment rather than the phone itself. For instance, a software update can’t address the experience of users on the edge or outside of 3G coverage areas. We’re going to continue to track 3G performance closely with HTC and T-Mobile and will post any updates we’ve got.
Suggested fixes (not solutions):
1. Home Screen -> Settings -> Wireless & Netowrk Settings > Mobile networks > Network operators -> Select Automatically
2. Home Screen -> Phone -> Dial *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone Information -> Switch from 'WCDMA preferred' to 'WCDMA only'
About the 3G issues, responses from a Google employee in their help forum : Latest Update 23/4/2010
Ry Guy, a Google employee who posted on their support forums.
"Hey guys,
I've seen some recent speculation on this thread about an OTA to improve 3G connectivity and I want to give you an update on the situation.
While we are continuing to monitor user feedback regarding the 3G performance on the Nexus One, we are no longer investigating further engineering improvements at this time.
If you are still experiencing 3G issues, we recommend that you try changing your location or even the orientation of your phone, as this may help in areas with weaker coverage.
-Ry Guy"
Other problems and possible fixes can be found here at the Nexus One support forums
Google is selling the phone directly to end-users, which isn't a bad thing and can make the product cheaper over its lifetime. This however, in many consumers eyes, leaves the burden of support requests on Google. Google is at present inexperienced and ill equipped to provide large scale customer support and is presently only accepting e-mail customer queries, to which it pledges to reply in one to two days. (far too long in many peoples eyes)
Once the support issues are resolved could a Nexus One owner please contact us or leave a comment so that we can update this entry.
