Motorola Droid
Consumers have noted the following concerns, they may be of interest to you if you are researching a product before purchase.
This list may not be complete. - Many users complain about the call quality, either the incoming audio is poor or the person they are talking to complains. Muffled, echoing and tinny have all been used to describe the call quality. (not all users report this) For more info see this thread on the support site. Take note of the number of views this thread has received in comparison with other threads.
- microSD card slot is located under the battery.
- Battery life concerns - PC World senior editor Robert Strohmeyer QUOTE:
"I can tell you that, so far, this thing consistently dies by 7:00 P.M. if I take it off the charger at 8:00 A.M. It definitely uses some serious battery. It's just a power-hungry phone."
Please note many people are satisfied with battery performance, after receiving submissions and looking at quite a few reviews it appears that the average battery life for medium to heavy usage is just over 7 hours. This is typically usage that includes navigation or playing music. As with all smart-phones battery life is very dependent on usage habits.
- The device can not store or run applications from SDcards - this is a restriction built into all Android based smart phones.Storing applications on SDcards for use is a violation of the Android file access security implementation. There are however some work arounds for this on Android based devices, If a community member is aware of a reliable workaround that has been tested please submit it or leave a comment. We will add it to this list or create a short article for other users of the Android platform to benefit from.

Really wish I knew about this before I made the purchase
Seriously, I wish I did. The sound complaints listed above are spot on.
It doesn't matter how many bells and whistles a smart phone has if it doesn't perform its primary function of participating in voice calls at least as well as a regular mobile.

don't buy it if you want to use the droid as a PHONE
I gave it a good month but after everyone telling me I sounded like I was in a tunnel or hearing a terrible echo I returned it. I got the Eris instead and I love it - much better call quality - no complaints from my friends and family anymore!!

DONT BUY THE MOTOROLA DROID!!! I have the Droid and the sound quality is terrible the people on the other end get alot of background noise and echoing and on my end theres a lot of skipping in and out and theres an electrical crackle noise that comes and goes. The facebook shortcut doesn't work right. It connects to Facebook but facebook isn't fully functional. I had to go to the browser and put in the Facebook address then it was fine. My biggest complaint is it's sound is terrible and I don't appreciate being lied to telling me theres no problem. They did the same thing with the Casio Exilim alot of hype but fell short. Something needs to be done about Verizons decptive habits. If this isnt fixed I'm going to look into legal ramifications. I'm switching to AT&T
