Any info owners of the device can offer would be appreciated by the community
- No Bluetooth file transfer
- Some firmware versions / hardware revisions have issues working with WPA2 secured wireless networks. The issue has been seen to effect version 2.1, 2.2 and 3 (please see below)
Beacon Frames are frames that have control information and are transmitted in each of the 11 channels and help a wireless station to identify nearby wireless access points (AP) in passive scanning mode. The Beacon interval for many routers defaults to 100ms, the iphone/ipod will connect in some cases if you change the setting of your router to 75ms.
Blue-tooth has been seen to adversely effect Wi-Fi on this device . Disabling Blue-tooth while using Wi-Fi may improve performance.
If the above fixes do not resolve the issue update your firmware here Support Pages: Apple and update your router firmware.
Some individuals that have updated their router and Apple device have reported success by resetting all network settings to default (General-Reset-Reset Network Settings), then restarting the phone/ipod.

Bluetooth?
Can this version send files by bluetooth?
I know it should be able to tether now and provide stereo sound to headsets but did they open up the rest of the functions in the bluetoth stack?

No it can't
The bluetooth hasn't yet been opened up to that extent . I wouldn't put too much faith in it happening any time soon either.

Keep these articles cmiong as they've opened many new doors for me.

Stick with your old phone, buy a replacement battery and upgrade the software then jailbreak it.
Save yourself some money this upgrade isn't worth it.
