- Home screen folders are limited to 12 apps.
- The call quality and reception can vary if you don't use a case or bumper.
- Note: when purchasing a case it has been recommended that users buy an open bumper instead of a rubber case that covers the phones back. Some users ( a very small number) have indicated that dirt and grit trapped behind a case can scratch the glass backing, and over time may lead to the glass back of the device breaking. There is a link in the info box below that should help you research this possible issue.
By now if you are interested in purchasing the iPhone 4 you will have heard of one or more of the issues listed below. These issues are for the first manufacturing run of the Apple iPhone 4.
Apple is aware of the issues .
- The iPhone 4 loses reception when you hold it by the antenna band, specifically the lower left hand side. Using a phone case or bumper, covering the area with tape, phone armour or a non-conductive sticker will fix the problem.
- Lab tests: Why Consumer Reports can't recommend the iPhone 4 It is a physical design defect that can not be fixed with a software patch.
- A number of early adopters have reported that the display has areas of yellow tinted dots and bands similar to stains. Apple has indicated that this is residue from the manufacturing process, the residue is probably the organic glue used to affix the screen and is not fully dried yet.(the phones were rushed out to meet a deadline) The problem may clear up within a couple of days or with more use after the residue has had time to cure and evaporate.
- White spots randomly distributed over the screen, resembling a constellation of stars has been reported by a handful of users.
- A very small number of units have been shipped with the volume buttons "+" and "-" swapped. IE: the "+" labeled button decreases volume while the "-" labeled button increases volume.
Update 16-7-2010

They are also allowing all unsatisfied users to bring the back the iPhone, undamaged, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. - They will be waiving all additional fees (restocking fee etc)
